You will need
- Carded wool in the quantities listed in the tutorial
- A small jug
- Washing-up liquid
- 700–800 ml tap water
- A sink or bowl
- Two pieces of bubble wrap, each approximately 65 × 80 cm
- One smaller circle of bubble wrap, approximately 20 cm in diameter
- Old towels or a waterproof table covering
Optional: a felting needle and sponge can be used to correct small areas or add embellishments. A felting needle is sharp and should only be used with suitable supervision.
About the finished play mat
The completed beach scene makes a tactile playscape for small-world, Waldorf and Steiner-inspired play. As every mat is handmade, the exact finished size and shape will vary slightly.
