Needle Felting Starter Kit Small – 5 Colours Wool, Needles & Foam Mat

A simple starter kit with five colours of carded wool and the basic tools for needle felting.

Choose from Pastel, Bright or Grey and Brown. Each option includes enough wool to practise shaping, blending and adding detail.

Included in the kit:

• 100 g of Carded New Zealand wool in five colours
• 3 × 36 gauge triangular felting needles
• 2 × 40 gauge triangular felting needles
• High-density foam mat measuring approximately 20 × 20 × 5 cm
• Basic needle felting instructions

About the wool

Carded wool has shorter, springy fibres that are already blended together. It felts quickly, holds its shape well and is straightforward to use for both flat and three-dimensional projects. It can also be used for wet felting.

Two useful needle sizes

The 36 gauge needles are useful for starting projects and building shape. The finer 40 gauge needles are better for smoothing the surface and adding smaller details.

Felting needles are sharp and brittle. Push the needle straight in and pull it straight out without twisting or bending it.

Using the mat

Lift your work from the foam regularly so it does not become attached. A piece of scrap fabric over the mat can help keep colours separate and extend the life of the foam.

This is a general starter set rather than a project kit, so you can use the wool for your own small makes and practice pieces.
