About the wool

Most of the shades are from our Carded New Zealand range. The pink and purple selection also includes some Māori wool. Carded wool is easy to shape because the fibres are already blended, so it builds up quickly and works well for both flat and three-dimensional projects. It can also be used for wet felting.

Two useful needle sizes

The 36 gauge needles are useful for starting projects and building shape. The finer 40 gauge needles are better for smoothing the surface and adding smaller details.

Felting needles are sharp and brittle. Push the needle straight in and pull it straight out without twisting or bending it.

Using the mat

Lift your work from the foam regularly so it does not become attached. Covering the mat with a piece of scrap fabric can also help keep colours separate and extend the life of the foam.
