🐑 Wool batting

Used for needle felting 3D and 2D, wet  felting, embellishments and other crafts. This wool is a lovely wool to work with.

Carded Nz wool is great wool for needle felting. It comes as carded wool batting where fibres are already mixed, making it easier to felt. This wool has a short staple length making it a great, bulky carded wool well suited for 3D needle felting projects. Tip: 36 triangular and 38-star felting needles will work well with this wool in my opinion. 40 or 42 gauge can be used for finer detail but are not necessary.

Maori is carded Nz wool

Maori as a felting wool blend was created in 2007 by DHG. This wool is MULESING FREE, the dyeing complies with Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and is done in DHG dyeing house which is GOTS 5.0 and GRS certified. Maori is a blend of sheep wool from New Zealand. Thickness is approx. 27 microns. This wool comes in a brilliant range of colours and is very easy to use. Carded Maori wool can be used as core wool and as finishing wool.

Maori & Bergschaf: This blend is made with 70% Maori wool (about 27 microns) and 30% Bergschaf wool (about 33 microns produced by DHG.The dyeing complies with Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and is done in DHG  dyeing house which is GOTS 5.0 and GRS certified.

Carded Bergschaf wool (33 microns)This carded bergschaf wool comes from Austria and is carefully selected to ensure constant quality over time. The dyeing complies with Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and is done in DHG dyeing house which is GOTS 5.0 and GRS certified.

IMPORTANT NOTEs: Although we take great care to make sure our photographs illustrate the colour of each wool shade, your screen/monitor settings may affect how it appears to you.

*The wool is carefully washed before carding, however you may still find some grass bits that are perfectly normal for a natural product.

How to use the product.

Begin by roughly shaping wool as required. The more you compress your wool the less time it will take to needle felt. Place your wool onto the surface. Using the coarse needle, repeatedly insert it into the wool, shaping as you go. Keep peeling your work off the foam as you go so it doesn't get stuck. When it becomes difficult to insert the needle, swap for a finer one and continue until your work is a firm shape.
