The shades used in this month's spring scene, and two techniques worth trying
Spring is a good time to revisit your colour range. The colours below are what we used in this month's felted spring scene. If you want to recreate it or build your own version, here is the full list.
Colours Used in This Spring Scene
- Candyfloss (48) — soft pastel pink, used for bunny ears and eggs
- Aquamarine (83) — bright turquoise blue, adds contrast
- Daffodil (17) — sunny yellow, used for the chick
- Orange (32) — bold orange, good for flowers and details
- Off White (01) — creamy and soft, right for bunnies and fluff
- Spring Grass (78) — bright green, used for grass and leaves
- Nude (49) — soft pink-beige, good for petals and shading
- Paradise (Maori range) — pastel green-blue, gentle background tone

Two Tips to Try This Month
1. Stiffen Flower Petals with Hairspray
If your felted flower petals are too soft to hold their shape, hairspray will help. Hold the petal in the position you want, apply a light mist, and leave it to dry before touching it again. Do not apply too much or it will go stiff rather than simply hold. This works well for daffodils, tulips, and any flower where the petal needs to stand away from the centre.
2. Blend Colours for a Softer Finish
Laying two colours side by side gives you a sharp edge. If you want something more natural, blend them before you felt. Pull small amounts of each colour, layer them together, then pull apart and restack two or three times. The result is a gradual transition rather than a line.
Try blending Candyfloss (48) and Nude (49) for soft petals, or Spring Grass (78) and Paradise for leaves with depth.
